Parked your car in Piazza Brembana (mt. 536), close to the cemetery, cross the center of the village and take the road that drives at the fork to Piazzatorre (mt.868 ), just after the village of Olmo al Brembo. Up to this point you have the opportunity to warm yourself due to the hard nature of the ascent near to the Piazzatorre Ice Palace. The track from Piazza Brembana (mt. 536) to Piazzatorre (district of Rossanella mt. 1102) is entirely on asphalt road and it's unadvisable for summer day (try to start on early morning).
From the square of the Piazzatorre Ice Palace you have to take a dirt road (near a fountain), which, although initially bad for cycling on, takes you through a beautiful pine wood to the Gremei Refuge (Rifugio Gremei mt.1.550), the location of the first chairlift of the ski station. On July weekend and for all of August it's possible to get here by chairlift (from the Piazzatorre Ice Palace to the Gremei Refuge; it's advisable to phone the ski station for confirmation). In doing so you can avoid an ascent of almost mt.350. After a coffee break at the refuge, you'll restart to climb, following the track of the ski slope “Panoramica” (be careful at a pass you have to turn left), to get the top of the second chairlift (mt.1900). The path follows the watershed and the mountain side until the Torcola's narrow pass (Forcolino di Torcola mt. 1856). Now you can have a little break to concentrate yourself on one of the best downhill paths of the Valley, first crossing pastures and then passing on the thick of the forest. Here the path is compulsory and you have to be careful as some track may be slippery. You will come out near a cottage that can became a perfect refuge in the event of a storm. When you arrive at a mule track get it on the right downhill until the village of Branzi (mt.874) and from the the asphalt road to Piazza Brembana (mt. 536), where you left the car.
