A hard mountain route, especially between the two refuge point, and so you can enjoy this route only having undergone good training and after receving the latest weather forecast (www.orobiemeteo.com). The start is placed near the village of Carona (mt.1.116) closed to the hairpin bend where the dirt road to the refuges begins (follow the road indication for the Calvi and Longo Refuges – in italian rifugio).

The start is very hard, with a slope between 18% / 20%, without any possibility to warm yourself beforehand. During the climb you will cross first the ancient mountain village of Pagliari (mt. 1313) and after the waterfall of Sambuzza Valley (mt.1.420), where you can have a break and stop to take a picture. On this track the slope is pretty hard until the Lago del Prato (Grass' Lake mt.1.650), where there is the only fork of the day. Take the left to get the Longo Refuge (mt. 2.028), this dirt road goes up with some hairpins bends.

After a break at the refuge you'll restart following the same dirt road until the Lago del Diavolo (Devil Lake mt.2.142) at the foot of the beautiful face of the Aga Mountain (mt. 2.720). Once across the Devil Dyke your “calvary” starts, carrying your bike, but with the view of the lake and the unique panorama the path will help you to get the very little pass, called Selletta (mt.2.372), in almost one hour. From here you can admire the panorama of the Calvi valley.

The downhill to Calvi Refuge (at the beginning you have to push your bike) is very technical and needs attention. The view of Devil Peak (Pizzo del Diavolo) mt 2.916, where there are the springs of the Brembo river) will stay with you to the Calvi Refuge (mt. 2.025). After lunch at the Calvi Refuge it is time to come back, coasting the Fregabolgia Lake with its dyke, and take the dirt road until the Prato Lake and so to Carona.
